On the morning of December 19, 2025, the Expansion Project of the International Passenger Terminal T2 at Noi Bai International Airport was officially inaugurated and put into operation. This event was not merely an infrastructure upgrade, but a milestone of strategic significance, affirming Vietnam’s position on the global aviation map. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, along with leaders of central ministries and agencies, marking the completion of a modern, intelligent, and world-class “gateway” to the capital.

Expansion of Terminal T2 – A major step forward in operational capacity and service quality
Addressing passenger capacity challenges
In recent years, Noi Bai International Airport’s Terminal T2 has continuously faced overload pressure due to the rapid growth of international passenger traffic. This situation created an urgent need to expand space, increase operational capacity, and optimize terminal operations.
With this expansion, the total capacity of Terminal T2 has been increased to 15–20 million passengers per year. The enlarged floor area, along with the addition of check-in counters, baggage handling systems, and departure gates, has effectively removed previous bottlenecks, allowing passengers to avoid long waiting times during peak hours.
Enhancing service quality at the international aviation gateway
Beyond expanding scale, the Terminal T2 expansion project also aims to comprehensively improve service quality. The terminal layout has been reorganized more scientifically, and passenger flows have been optimized, helping to shorten processing times and reduce congestion at critical areas.
Synchronized investment in infrastructure and technology contributes to building the image of a modern, professional international terminal, meeting the increasingly high expectations of international passengers arriving in and departing from Vietnam.
One of the key highlights of this project is the integrated investment in modern equipment and technological solutions, moving toward a “smart terminal” model in line with global airport development trends. The application of self-identification devices, self-service check-in kiosks, and especially automatic door systems at terminal entrances has significantly reduced direct contact between people, as well as between people and surfaces. This approach not only improves operational efficiency but also ensures hygienic safety in crowded public environments.

The pivotal role of automatic door systems at Terminal T2
As part of the Terminal T2 expansion project at Noi Bai International Airport, a total of 35 NABCO automatic door systems were installed at strategic locations.
- Main entrances: NABCO automatic sliding doors featuring thick tempered glass with excellent sound and thermal insulation.
- Specialized restroom doors with HDS-4P controllers: Automatic sliding doors designed specifically for people with disabilities, equipped with one-touch open/close buttons and status indicator lights, reflecting the terminal’s human-centered approach and compliance with international standards.
The continued use of the NABCO brand from Phase 1 (2015) through this expansion ensures aesthetic consistency and maximum convenience for future maintenance and operation.
Sonha Auto continued its role as the direct partner supplying and installing the NABCO automatic door systems for the expanded Terminal T2. With extensive experience in aviation infrastructure projects, Sonha Auto fully met stringent technical requirements while ensuring construction progress and quality in accordance with established standards.

Participation in the Noi Bai Terminal T2 expansion project further affirms Sonha Auto’s capability in delivering advanced automatic door solutions to key national aviation infrastructure projects.
