INSTALLATION OF AUTOMATIC BOLLARD SYSTEM AT SON LA HYDROPOWER PLANT – A NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROJECT

Project overview of Son La Hydropower Plant

Located in Son La province, the Son La Hydropower Plant is the largest hydroelectric facility in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. It has an installed capacity of 2,400 MW across 6 units (6 x 400 MW) and an average annual output of 10.246 billion kWh. The plant plays a crucial strategic role in supplying electricity to the national grid, ensuring energy security, and driving socio-economic development.

Due to its significant scale and importance, the Son La Hydropower Plant demands the strictest security measures. Tight access control and prevention of any unauthorized entry are top priorities to ensure absolute safety for this key national asset.

Automatic Bollard Solution for Son La Hydropower Plant by Sonha Auto

To meet high-level security standards and enhance vehicle control at Son La Hydropower Plant, Sonha Auto was entrusted with implementing a modern automatic bollard system.

Automatic bollards provide an optimal solution that matches the plant’s stringent security requirements by effectively preventing unauthorized intrusions and flexibly managing vehicle traffic. The bollard system features high impact resistance and durability under all weather conditions, with the option for automatic or manual operation when necessary.

Specifically, Sonha Auto installed a system of 6 automatic vehicle bollards BFT model STOPPY B 200/700, at the Son La Hydropower Plant – the largest hydroelectric facility in Southeast Asia. The STOPPY B Ø200-700 system features bollards with a diameter of 200mm and a raised height of 700mm. Each bollard is equipped with integrated indicator lights on top and reflective strips to enhance visibility and safety during nighttime or low-light conditions.

With an impact resistance of up to 110,000 Joules – capable of withstanding high-speed vehicle collisions and an IP67 protection rating (fully dust-tight and temporarily submersible), this system ensures maximum security and safety for Son La Hydropower Plant. It effectively prevents unauthorized access, protecting both assets and personnel.
