Sonha Auto contributes to the completion of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport with NABCO automatic doors

On April 17, 2025, Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport officially operated its first trial flight, marking the start of the trial operation phase of one of the most important aviation infrastructure projects in Vietnam. This is a key national project with a total investment of nearly VND 11,000 billion, playing a crucial role in relieving congestion at Tan Son Nhat Airport and enhancing aviation capacity for the southern region.

Large scale and modern design of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport

Terminal T3 has been constructed with a scale comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of up to 112,500 m² and a designed capacity of approximately 20 million passengers per year. The terminal’s interior space is organized in a scientific and modern manner, featuring 90 conventional check-in counters, 20 self-service bag drop counters, and 42 self-service check-in kiosks, helping to shorten processing times and optimize passenger flow.

The terminal’s operational system includes 27 boarding gates, of which 13 are equipped with passenger boarding bridges and 14 are served by bus boarding. The baggage handling area has been comprehensively invested with six departure baggage islands and ten arrival baggage islands, meeting the demands of high-frequency operations. Security operations are strengthened with 25 passenger screening checkpoints and eight modern security screening lanes. In addition, the terminal provides dedicated areas for VIP passengers, business-class travelers, and priority passengers, ensuring a premium and convenient service experience.

With its modern design and smart operational orientation, Terminal T3 is expected to fundamentally address the long-standing congestion at Tan Son Nhat Airport while elevating the aviation handling capacity of Ho Chi Minh City and the entire southern region.

Automatic door systems contributing to optimized passenger flow at Terminal T3

At the Terminal T3 passenger terminal project of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Sonha Auto participated as the supplier and installer of NABCO (Japan) automatic door systems across multiple functional areas of the terminal. In total, 92 NABCO automatic door sets were deployed to meet the requirements of high passenger volumes and continuous operation.

The door systems are installed at the main terminal lobbies, where large numbers of passengers enter and exit daily, and specialized automatic doors are also provided for restrooms designed for people with disabilities. These restroom doors are integrated with the HDS-4P control unit, allowing push-button operation, facilitating accessibility and ensuring safety during use.

The comprehensive installation of NABCO automatic door systems helps manage and control passenger flow, reduce congestion at peak areas, and enhance the overall operational efficiency of Terminal T3, meeting the technical and operational standards of a modern aviation terminal.

The Sonha Auto footprint at key aviation infrastructure projects

Prior to the deployment at Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, NABCO automatic door systems implemented by Sonha Auto had already been put into operation at many major aviation facilities nationwide, including Terminal T2 and the expanded Terminal T2 at Noi Bai International Airport, Da Nang International Airport, Cam Ranh International Airport, and Terminal T2 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The continued participation in installing automatic door systems at Terminal T3 ensures technical solution consistency across the Tan Son Nhat Airport infrastructure system, while also highlighting the important role of automatic door solutions in improving operational efficiency and service quality at large-scale aviation facilities.
