SONHA AUTO INSTALLS NABCO AUTOMATIC DOORS AT TERMINAL T3 TAN SON NHAT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Project overview of Terminal T3 – Tan Son Nhat International Airport

On April 17, 2025, Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport officially operated its first trial flight, marking the start of the trial operation phase of one of the country’s most important transport infrastructure projects. As a key aviation infrastructure development, the project was invested with a total capital of nearly VND 11,000 billion and officially entered trial operation from April 2025.

The terminal is constructed on a large scale, comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total gross floor area of up to 112,500 m² and a designed capacity of approximately 20 million passengers per year. The interior space is scientifically and modernly organized, featuring 90 conventional check-in counters, 20 self-service bag drop counters, and 42 self-service check-in kiosks, helping to shorten processing time and optimize passenger flow.

Terminal T3 is equipped with 27 boarding gates, including 13 gates with passenger boarding bridges and 14 bus boarding gates, along with a large-scale baggage handling system consisting of 6 outbound baggage carousels and 10 inbound baggage carousels. Security operations are strengthened with 25 passenger screening checkpoints and 8 modern security scanning lanes. In addition, dedicated areas for VIP, business-class, and priority passengers are integrated to ensure a high-end service experience.

The commissioning of Terminal T3 is expected to fundamentally address the long-standing congestion at Tan Son Nhat Airport, while enhancing the aviation operational capacity of Ho Chi Minh City and the entire southern region. The project is oriented toward a modern, smart terminal model that meets international standards for operations, security, and passenger experience.

Following the success at Terminal T2 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Sonha Auto continued to be trusted and selected as the contractor to supply and install intelligent entrance solutions using NABCO automatic door systems (Japan) for the Terminal T3 project. In total, 92 sets of automatic doors were deployed by Sonha Auto across key functional areas of the terminal.

The system includes automatic sliding doors at the main concourses, where passenger traffic is high, as well as specialized automatic doors for restrooms designated for people with disabilities. In particular, the restroom doors are integrated with the dedicated HDS-4P toilet controller, optimizing accessibility and ensuring convenience, safety, and human-centered design for users.

The comprehensive deployment of NABCO automatic door systems at Terminal T3 not only helps optimize passenger flow and improve operational efficiency, but also contributes to creating the image of a modern, friendly, and internationally standardized airport space.
